Guiding

St. Marks United Church are sponsors of 3rd. Lancaster Girls Guides of Canada which is open to all girls and young women in our community aged 5 to 17. Girl Guides strives to prepare girls to meet the challenges that they face in their lives head on. Guiding continually changes with the times to reflect the needs and interests of contemporary girls and women.

Our program starts in the fall just after start of school and continues throughout the school year until early June.

Brownies
For girls ages 7-8

Brownies meet Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm

Brownies is the place to go for continued doses of fun. The Brownie experience lets you make friends, learn more about the things you like and find out about the community you live in.
Brownie units meet once a week, usually for one and a half hours. The hands-on program is all about encouraging girls to develop their own identity and positive relationships with others. Brownies gain confidence by learning skills that they can use in their daily lives; everything from safety and eco-awareness to the importance of healthy choices. Girls can also explore science, the arts, camping and the outdoors, and develop a commitment to their communities through service projects and special events. No two Brownie meetings are alike.
At Brownies, you'll work on more exciting badges, go camping, visit interesting places and most of all, you'll have a blast!

Guides
For girls ages 9-11

Guides meet Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

If you like trying new things, learning about the world and challenging yourself, then you'll love Guides. It's not about cliques or competition - Guides is about real friends, real fun and real adventure.
Guide units meet once a week, usually for two hours. In Guides, you'll develop leadership abilities as you start making your own decisions about Unit activities, organizing parties and teaching each other games and skills. You'll have the chance to take a stand on issues important to you and to make the world a better place through community service projects. And of course, you'll have a blast hanging out with other girls. No two Guide meetings are alike.
Always fun and never boring - that's what Guides is about.

Pathfinders

For girls ages 12 – 14

Pathfinders meet Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Pathfinders is a program by girls, for girls. As a Pathfinder, you'll have lots of chances to take the lead, get involved and help others. You can volunteer in your community giving your time and energy to something you believe in. If outdoor activities and camping are your thing, then you'll love the outings and trips you'll get to organize. If you want to explore new interests like photography, social networking or web design, you can do that, too. Pathfinders also offers the chance to travel internationally, particularly to the Guiding World Centres in Mexico, England, Switzerland and India. No two Pathfinder meetings are alike.
