St. Mark's is about you.
As part of the United Church of Canada, whose Basis of Union states that "It shall be the policy of the United Church to foster the spirit of unity...", we believe that God loves all people, and wishes that we live our lives in such a way that we demonstrate our love for all of humanity.
We are a congregation of many different backgrounds and ages, but we all have a common belief in the our gathering to worship the Triune God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). Each of us has many talents that we can use to serve our Lord. From the wonder of youthful innocence, to the wisdom that is gained by experience, we all can contribute to spreading Christ's message within ourselves, our congregation, our community and our world.
Our minister, Rev. Bob, leads us in a energetic way with sermons solidly and Biblically-based, with a definite eye toward how our 21st century is molded and influenced by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Sermons have been known to occasionally include cultural references to popular films, ‘60’s counter-culture, the evils of Vegas-style gambling, Celtic Christianity, Batman, and current theological treatises from authors as diverse as Henri Nouwen, Barbara Brown Taylor, Marcus Borg, Jurgen Moltmann, Bill Klassen and Dominic John Crossan.
Ours is a church which celebrates our past, but which also looks toward and acts upon our future in a highly supportive nature.
